ST. LOUIS – With a trial looming this week, a St. Louis man accepted a plea deal Monday for killing his ex-girlfriend nearly two years ago.

Julius Massey, now 43, was originally charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action for the March 13, 2024, fatal shooting of Payton Winston.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office agreed to reduce the murder charge to second-degree murder in exchange for Massey’s guilty plea.
